Pilates

Modified Pilates is rehabilitation based Pilates training. Pilates can help in the treatment of neck and shoulder pain, back, pelvic and hip pain.

Each client requires individual assessment before they can start a class to enable the physiotherapist to draw up an individual exercise programme for their level of ability and to teach them the basic principles of Pilates.

Class sizes are small to ensure that safe and correct exercises are done by all participants.

Clothing should be stretchable and comfortable. All equipment, including mats, will be provided for you at the class.

Classes are held at the Physiotherapy and Pilates clinic at 75 New Street,

Level 1 Class - Introduces the key elements of Pilates and core stability training. This class mainly involves level 1 exercises with some progression onto level 2 and level 3.

The class is suitable for people who are new to Pilates, those recovering from injury or rehabilitating post surgery. It may also be appropriate for people with neurological conditions.

Level 2 Class - This class is a progression on from level 1. The exercises are more challenging with a greater proportion at level 2 and above. This class introduces you to the use of small equipment.

It is suitable for people with previous Pilates experience, as a progression from the level 1 class and for those people who want to incorporate core stability training into their current exercise regime.

Level 3 Class - This is a further progression onto more advanced exercises and the increased use of small equipment. The class is suitable for those people with a great deal of Pilates experience.
